Urban
pollution is a bane for urban society or life. All sorts of pollution like air
pollution, water pollution, sound pollution, noise pollution, food pollution
have been adversely affecting the city dwellers.
Sources of pollution: The sources or origins of urban pollution are
described in short details-
Air pollution: Land vehicles use oil and fuel which create smoke. The
smoke gets mixed with air and pollutes air, mills, factories and industries are
also held responsible for air pollution because they create smoke. Polluted air
contains CO2, CO, NO2, SMP, SO2 and Lead Oxide. Excessive rise of gases and chemical pollute air and
leads the urban dwellers to suffer from nausea, suffocation, vomiting etc. The
deadly viruses of SARS and Dengue fever are the bitter consequences of
pollution. People are to breathe and inhale polluted air in most cases.
Water pollution: In urban areas water comes to happen for mills,
factories, sewage from houses and general garbage in the urban areas. When
water is drawn below the surface by means of pumps, tube-wells, it remains
contaminated. This water remains polluted and poisonous until or unless it is
purified. The drinking of this polluted water is detrimental to life and
health. The Municipal Corporation also supplies pure water to the urban
dwellers.
Food pollution: Most food and snacks ready for sale at the pavement,
street corner alongside the road are uncovered and dirty. They are cooked with
polluted water. People’s are tempted to eat and tasted them because of their
habit and greed. These foods and snakes are not safe for people especially the
urban dwellers.
Sound pollution: Sound pollution is very common in the urban areas.
The noise of vehicles, mills, factories, industries are really boring and unbearable.
This also causes dull of hearing, headache, mental agony, tension, mental
imbalance and migraine.
Bad effects: The sources of urban pollution have bad effects on
urban life specially the urban dwellers. The urban dwellers live a very
measurable life in urban areas. They feel suffocated, breath and inhale
polluted air. Sound pollution causes them to suffer from coughs, bronchitis,
hoping cough, lunch problem etc.
Remedy: To fight against urban pollution the logical steps
can be taken- Vehicles in the
urban areas can under no way be removed but
checked regularly by turning their engines after every two month. Petrol driven
cars and vehicles should not at all be reduced or removed, if possible measures
should be taken to avoid lead oxide. The urban dwellers should grow more and
more vegetable to reduce food pollution. The industrialists should shift their
mills, factories, industries outside the urban areas to avoid air pollution and
sound pollution as well. Manufacturing process always causes pollution and
hence it must be avoided in an urban context.
Urban
pollution is a menace to the urban dwellers. Now pollution in urban area is
ubiquitous. The life in urban areas is not at all comfortable for its all sided pollution's. The city dwellers, the country’s regulatory body, industrialists
and businessmen can take an active part in devising the cost effective and long
term schemes for controlling urban pollution for the better life of the
dwellers.
